The identity of the female narrator (voiced by Kristen Bell) on CW's Gossip Girl has thus far into the strike-abbreviated season remained a closely guarded secret. Until today! The Daily News reports that the person behind the Upper East Side's scandal-stoking, must-read blog is (SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT) ... Eric van der Woodsen, Serena's younger, closeted, formerly suicidal brother.

If it's true, the fact that Eric (played by Connor Paolo) posted an item about Serena's (Blake Lively) possible pregnancy before asking her about it is really lame—even for the admittedly screwed-up world of posh New York City private schools. Then again, maybe he's just a page-view whore like the managing editor of a certain other Manhattan gossip blog?

We are actually inclined to believe it's not true—or that if it is true, the show's writers will rewrite the twist now that the cat is out of the bag. First of all, Eric was in rehab for the first two episodes of the season because he tried to kill himself. We'd like to think he had more pressing concerns on his mind and that the doctors in charge of monitoring him placed some restrictions on what he could and couldn't do online. Second, as we mentioned before, it doesn't make sense that he'd play his sister like that.

So who is the real Gossip Girl? The obsessed bloggers at New York mag, who have been following the show more closely than anyone, say Vanessa, which is actually not a bad call. Only time will tell!
