Pay No Attention to Esai Morales' On-screen Raping

COOKIE MONSTER? Morales
The ex-girlfriend of that guy in La Bamba, Esai Morales, is back with a sequel to her summer civil suit, in which she said Morales punched, kicked, robbed, and raped her. And for good measure, she contends he also intentionally gave her the Herp.

Her lawyer has issued a press release announcing a news conference today at 10 a.m. PST in Beverly Hills (the preferred location for potential scandal revelations—or brutal slander). The SHOCKING new statement teases: "Elizabeth Mazzocchi intends to inform the public of previously undisclosed information concerning the actor Esai Morales' alleged past acts of rape and sexual misconduct over the past 22 years. Liz [Ed: "Liz" to friends] hopes that by shedding light on these allegations, other potential victims of Morales will feel empowered to come forward to tell their stories as well."

Morales denied the last round of allegations via his MySpace page, where fans can listen to his power ballad "Reason to Live" (choice lyric: You're gonna get what you deserve / How can you sit and have the nerve to keep going on?). And in a July open letter, he wrote: "You know me. You've known me for nearly three decades. And you know in your hearts that these claims are baseless. This is not the way I live my life and I am incapable of committing these kinds of acts."

Perhaps it's all a "misunderstanding," like the one in which Morales' La Bamba costar Lou Diamond Phillips was arrested for domestic violence. For her part, though, Liz seems to be dug in for a fight. Lacking a new statement from Morales himself, we defer to his evil half-brother character in La Bamba, who told on-screen girlfriend Rosie before raping her, "Okay, babe, you asked for it."
