Nominations for the 50th Annual GRAMMY® Awards were announced today. What does it all mean? We had Radar resident experts Willa Paskin and David Cho sift through the list of nominees to handicap the races and generally ponder the state of "award-worthy" music today. Their deliberations follow.

WP: Okay, I am putting on Amy Winehouse in honor of our chat
DC: I'm listening to JT, but just because
WP: Let's preface by saying the Grammys are the most absurd of all the award shows
WP: 1) there are a million categories
WP: 2) musicians make actors look heartbreakingly articulate. Watching a musician give a speech makes me want to put my eye out
DC: but, to be fair, people love gold plated gramophones.
DC:I think that the Oscars should start giving out gold plated laserdisc players
