STRANGE MAGIC Knox
As far as alibis go, claiming you were smoking pot, shagging your boyfriend, and reading the latest Harry Potter in German instead of murdering your roommate sounds pretty reasonable. But for Amanda Knox, who has maintained her innocence in the murder of her flatmate, Meredith Kercher, it may not help to clear her name—at least not if police continue to find contradictory evidence that suggests she's being less than honest.

Though Knox has stuck to claims that she was at her boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito's apartment on the night of the murder, reading about Hogwarts, police have found the book in question at the residence Knox shared with Kercher, along with other DNA evidence that suggests she was at home that night.

This was not, of course, the first time Knox's love for Harry Potter has been examined. In the aftermath of the murder, thousands of curious gawkers checked out Foxy Knoxy's (now defunct) MySpace page, on which she mused on her love for "things like good wine, rock climbing, backpacking long distances with people I love, yoga on a rainy day, making coffee, drinking tea, and lots of languages ... I'm twenty years old and I like new things. Ooh, and soccer, and roller coasters, and Harry Potter."

Unfortunately it looks like Harry, Hermione, and Ron may not be able to magic her outta this tragic situation.
