A fire spewing thick, acrid smoke out of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, located beside the White House, broke out at 9:15 a.m. today. The only reported injury was sustained by a marine who had shattered a window to escape. The blaze is said to have originated in the electrical closet of what is Vice President Dick Cheney's ceremonial office: Cheney's working office is in the West Wing, and he was not in the Eisenhower Building at the time of the fire.
