Fire at Executive Office Beside White House
Posted on Oct 27, 2008 @ 04:07PM
A fire spewing thick, acrid smoke out of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, located beside the White House, broke out at 9:15 a.m. today. The only reported injury was sustained by a marine who had shattered a window to escape. The blaze is said to have originated in the electrical closet of what is Vice President Dick Cheney's ceremonial office: Cheney's working office is in the West Wing, and he was not in the Eisenhower Building at the time of the fire. According to D.C. police, the fire is now under control. [CNN]
