Dogged Vick Has His Day
Posted on Oct 27, 2008 @ 04:07PM
Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, who not long ago was the highest paid football player in the NFL, was sentenced today to 23 months in prison for his role in a dogfighting ring run, in part, out of his rural Virginia home. Prosecutors had recommended a sentence of 12 to 18 months; Judge Henry Hudson, a dog owner, went high after deciding that Vick had not fully accepted responsibility for his actions, which included electrocuting, drowning, and hanging losing dogs. Vick cannot appeal and is ineligible for parole until May 2009. His plea agreement is after the jump.
