READ ROVE-ER Barnett, Karl
Former Bush White House Deputy Chief Karl Rove may be a dark genius at pulling strings, but he can't seem to move his book, at least not yet. So far though, speculation about hold-ups and Rove's reported $3 million advance are pure bunk, Rove's literary rep, Washington, D.C. attorney Bob Barnett tells Radar.
"That number was just thrown out there by some moron," Barnett says. "That's a moron speculating. People just made up that number."
Earlier this week, Rove's memoir was reportedly stalled on the auction block. Rumors covered every theory from a vast left-wing conspiracy (apparently, there is a backlash against neocon authors) to failure to meet the expected advance. And the New York Observer reports that a Simon & Schuster imprint snatched the book.
