Blimp My Ride

Things Slate's Trailhead blog tells about presidential hopeful Ron Paul's blimp, currently straddling the Maryland-Delaware border 1500 feet off the ground:

• It is cold! Temperatures on board have dipped to 28 degrees.

• One message plastered on the side of the blimp—"Who is Ron Paul?"—is an homage to Ayn Rand's "Who is John Galt?" closer of her novel Atlas Shrugged. The other message is "Ron Paul Revolution," with the "evol" highlighted as a backwards "love."

• People aboard the blimp say things like, "You can't keep to a tight schedule ... you're on blimp time now."

• The blimp costs $350,000 a month to operate. Paul's strategists believe they will raise enough money from Paultards to keep it airborne through Super Tuesday.

• There is an official "blimpographer" whose job it is to document every single conversation and interaction between blimp riders.

Don't ever accuse Ron Paul of just being full of hot air. Hey-o!
