After weeks of cranking up the heat on the Clinton machine, Obama has now supplanted Hillary for high score status in several Iowa polls and has unveiled today a new website attacking Hillary Clinton for, what else, attacking Barack Obama. Obama campaign manager David Plouffe alerted supporters to the new site this morning and asked them "to be vigilant and notify us immediately of any attacks from Senator Clinton or her supporters as soon as you see them so that we can respond with the truth swiftly and forcefully."
Won't you be an Obama safety patrol?
Don't hesitate to contact his people about pretty much anything that makes Obama look bad, as Plouffe seems open to the idea of blaming it on Hillary. In addition to negative "phone calls, literature drops, blog posts, mail pieces as well as radio and TV ads," the site appears willing to assign to Hillary attacks that are "anonymous or designed to be."
For her part, Clinton appears to have no problem putting her name on the shots she'll be taking at Obama. She told reporters in Iowa over the weekend that the "fun part" of "drawing contrasts" with her opponents had finally arrived and has reportedly unloaded on Obama today for casting more spineless "present" votes than any other member of the Illinois state legislature.
Oh, it's on.
