LOVED YOU IN ELEKTRA! Garner

Media bigwigs and Hollywood-types deemed to have sufficient gravitas were out in droves at last night's 18th Annual Glamour Women of the Year Awards. Honorees included Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, poet Toni Morrison, cancer survivor Elizabeth Edwards, and a group of former child soldiers from Uganda whose Empowering Hands charity counsels those terrorized by a rapacious rebel militia. Then there was Jennifer Garner, because who can forget that "Thriller" dance scene in Thirteen Going on 30?

Garner was somewhat contrite over the win, particularly as her achievements scored her the December cover of Glamour while the child soldiers are on page 253. "It's true, what I do is rather ordinary," she confessed, arriving at a post-ceremony dinner at Jean Georges. "It's almost embarrassing when you consider these women's astonishing accomplishments. I haven't cured any childhood diseases today. I'm not, obviously, Toni Morrison. But the promise of short ribs is making me feel better about all of that."
