WON'T YOU HELP? Couric
Where would ladyanchor Katie Couric be without assistants? Stuck behind a closed door, unable to dial her phone for help—even if she could get it out of her jacket pocket.
The CBS Evening News anchor attended
the "Cool Comedy-Hot Cuisine: An Evening to Benefit the Scleroderma Research Foundation" hosted by Bob Saget and Susie Essman last night at Caroline's comedy club was chatting up Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos, Bryant Gumbel, and Jeff Zucker (Essman joked that big wigs will use the writers' strike as an excuse to take vacations). But at one point before the auction, Couric rushed out of the theater declaring aloud that she urgently needed to use someone's cell phone for "a quick call." Radar was outside and offered a loaner phone, but Couric went with someone else's piece before insisting to the lender: "You dial. I can't figure these things out," and rattled off the 917 number.
While on the borrowed phone, the Emmy Award-winning newswoman tried to re-enter the theater only to find she couldn't open the door by herself.
