MSNBC is reporting that the Democratic Party in South Carolina has rejected Stephen Colbert's attempt to get on the presidential ballot there. Colbert had collected 10,000 signatures and written a check to the party for $2,500, he said on his show last night. That'll save him legal troubles down the road.
UPDATE: The executive committee of the South Carolina Democratic Party voted down Colbert's bid 13 to 3. [MTV]
