Does Petra Nemcova Have Charity Woes?![]() CZECH YOURSELF Nemcova (Photo: Getty Images) At Helena Houdova's Sunflower Children's Foundation poker tournament at club Capitale in Manhattan last week, another one of Petra's pals was overheard telling a guest all the fundamental problems with Nemcova's philanthropy ... all while standing right next to the Czech bombshell. "I got out of it because it really doesn't stand for much, and Petra doesn't care, really," said the ex-Happy Hearts Fund-er, while motioning to Nemcova, who was engrossed in a conversation with CSI NY's Hill Harper and Diana Ross's son Evan. While guests' jaws continued to drop, the unhappy Hearter continued on. "There's a lot of mismanagement on the top levels, which lead to me wanting to leave. We're still friends though!" With a friend who'll sell you out right under your nose, who needs enemies? While Petra's chum said, "the charity is more for show than anything else," she did invite her guest to Happy Hearts's upcoming gala on October 10. "Why go, if it's meaningless?" asked the partygoer. "Well, the parties are still fun, right?" the friend retorted. UPDATE: A representative from Happy Hearts Fund returned our call and insisted all's well. In fact, the rep tells Radar, the fund has raised $2.5 million in its lifespan for children's programs and is on its way to raising $3 million via an upcoming annual gala. (The fund operates with zero administration fees, the rep adds, sending 100 percent of money raised to charities). Sounds like Nemcova could use a few new pals.

I have inside knowledge of Happy Hearts Fund and it is absolutely not true that they operate with zero administrative costs. Posted by: halloffame on October 3, 2007 10:54 AM Advertisement |
