  • 2008 Republican candidate Fred Thompson seems to be a little miffed after captain gaysweater John McCain was praised by Esquire for being such a promising candidate back in 2000. "I don't know who in our base cares about Esquire magazine," a Thompson rep says. "It's not that they don't like perfume-laden magazines. Maybe we have a metrosexual part of our base. But I don't think they take that into account when they're picking a nominee." [NRO]
