Hill Tangled in Kucinich Family Tree?

DENNIS'S MENACE? Jackie Kucinich
Some members of the House Republican Caucus are mad at the Dennis Kucinich clan—and not because the liberal presidential candidate and congressman from Ohio bucks them on almost every issue. GOPers are groaning because they say his only child, Jackie, regularly "beats up" on conservatives via The Hill, where she's been on staff since 2005.

At least one high-ranking Republican pol has refused to be interviewed by Kucinich, Radar has learned, because he questions her objectivity. Plus, a few Caucus members have penned a letter they plan to soon send to The Hill asking that Kucinich's work come with a permanent disclaimer, indicating her political pedigree.

"There's just a lot of widespread concern—or, rather, worry that this hasn't raised any red flags—that the daughter of a liberal Democratic member is allowed to cover the very people he fights against: us," said a GOP congressional staffer who asked not to be named.

Indeed, Jackie's main beat at The Hill is the House Republicans—not that you're likely to hear her dad mention that fact in public. When papa Kucinich takes to the stump, he usually talks up her public education upbringing to gain points from prospective voters, as he's done in a couple of presidential debates so far.

In the meantime, Jackie has covered a majority of her dad's biggest political foes, including presidential candidates John McCain, Rudy Giuliani, and Fred Thompson.

But alarm bells aren't ringing for all Republicans. "I think she's judged by the people on the Hill based on the quality of her work," Brian Kennedy, a staffer for Rep. John Boehner (R-OH), told Radar.

And, perhaps most importantly for Jackie, her editor Hugo Gurdon isn't concerned. "Her reporting is not influenced by her father being a presidential candidate and longtime politician, except perhaps that it means she grew up in the political world and understands it well," he says.

Comments

This is the dumbest story ever. First of all, how many voters are influenced by or have ever even heard of The Hill? Secondly, Amazing Sources - every single source contradicts your headline except for the one "unidentified" GOP staffer that may or may not exist. Keep up the amazing investigative reporting, Radar.
