Was Roseanne Hammered or Hacked?

The tirade against Roseanne Barr on Perez Hilton's site continued today as he posted a series of alleged MySpace bulletins from the actress to her online friends. In the posts, Roseanne, who is reported to be in Hawaii at the moment, comes off as drunk and more than a little crazy, with lines like "I have liked drinking alone and writing short stories," and "I would rather just smell like pee, like old ladies are meant to do. Aloha!"

While these could be true tipsy rants from the comedienne, many signs point to the fact that Roseanne was the victim of a MySpace hack job. The first evidence comes from Perez himself, who posted an earlier entry from Roseanne's official blog around 9 a.m. this morning, before putting up the MySpace messages.

This post, which is time stamped at 7:48 a.m., is both grammatically correct and somewhat toned down, even though Barr jokes about wanting to buy a gun to kill trespassers on her property. Though obviously angry, the blog post comes off as a measured joke, whereas the MySpace messages are incoherent and erratic. Perhaps an online trickster was inspired by Roseanne's official blog to take her craziness a step further?

Another sign is that Roseanne's publicist, James Moore, had not heard about the MySpace messages until Radar alerted him to them this morning. And while we won't say that publicists always know when their clients are going off on drunken rants in public forums, it's usually something that comes up. Roseanne could not be contacted "because of her limited access to Internet and spotty cell phone connection," Moore says.

Roseanne has both a web site and a MysSpace. The Roseanne World web page has plenty of unhacked crazy in pure Barr form. It is really hard to tell the hack job from the original nut job.

That being said, I love the crazy old gal.
