Rest easy: Manhattan's upper crust is still totally depraved.
While ScarJo's wide-eyed performance as a beleaguered Manhattan nanny in The Nanny Diaries may not win her many critical accolades, the film seems to have inspired copycat caretakers. Kate Johnson, a British nanny who worked in New York for several years, penned
a piece for the London Times that has some boldface socialites running for their Xanax.
Johnson's peek into the bedrooms, boudoirs, and nurseries of the Park Avenue set affirms the portrait of apathetic, neurotic, and narcissistic parents painted by The Nanny Diaries scribes, where parents are more likely to display photos of themselves with celebs (Johnson recalls one living room decked with images of John McEnroe and Al Pacino) than of their spawn. But it's her blind items that are fueling jitters among the ladies who lunch at Swifty's and La Goulue, according to a well-heeled source.
