Examining the theory that obesity can be "contagious" among social groups, Yaeger wonders whether proximity to Ukrainian super-waifs means that skinny is catching among Seventh Avenue garmentos and style scribes. Yet despite Anna Wintour's most ardent attempts to keep everyone in her Little Black Book in sample sizes, a few pleasantly plump types have squeezed through gates.

With New York Fashion Week around the corner, we decided to applaud some of fashion's anti-skinnies. From the merely portly to the mildly porky, they're fiercely taking over the front rows, the catwalks, or simply keeping their ateliers well-stocked with actual, edible food. Thank god!
