Much was made last week of news that author A.M. Homes has a Hamptons-based project in the works for HBO. It's not surprising then that the VIP tent at Saturday's Mercedes Benz Bridgehampton Polo at JetOne Jets field was buzzing with excitement over just how the fabled playground of the well-heeled will play on screen.

Homes said the show will be a cross between Desperate Housewives and Grapes of Wrath, but some celebs are hoping it brings the lust: Beth Ostrosky, Howard Stern's ladylove, thinks "they should have a lot of twisted love affairs—and a lot of young girls."

Others simply hoped for inclusion. Polo player Nacho Figueras, who is to the game what Mick Jagger is to rock music, said he hopes they work the sport of kings, and, presumably, himself into the series. "I think they should show how this is the place where the best polo players and best horses in the world gather for six weeks every year," said the handsome face of Ralph Lauren Black cologne.

Singer Samantha Cole, who's dated Christie Brinkley's naughty ex Peter Cook and is no stranger to scandal, prays the show will fill the void left by Carrie Bradshaw. Ms. Cole, who could stand to benefit from a successful depiction of the area having just opened a concierge service for visitors there, revealed that Hamptons storylines might write themselves: "They should look into the lives of some of the locals," she laughed.

But it seems some may not appreciate the tourist surge a new show might bring. Soul legend Aretha Franklin noted some of the quieter pleasures of the Hamptons, saying, "I've been coming for the past six or seven years. I like the horses—they're so sleek and they have a beautiful gait. I also like to go for a light meal and visit the bookstores. It's nice to just walk in town," the singer pointed out.
