Christo's Large, Crude Pyramid

  • Christo, he of the mega-scale art installations (remember the underwhelming neon-orange Gates in Central Park?), has announced his plans to build a pyramid made of 390,500 oil barrels in the desert of the United Arab Emirates. The project will rise to two-thirds the height of the Eiffel Tower and, unlike his other, self-funded projects, will be paid for by UAE capital city Abu Dhabi. [NYT]
