Bauer's Cocktail Folds Before Launch

  • Hot on the heels of Jane's closure today comes news that Bauer Publications has opted to cancel the launch of Cocktail Weekly, the low-priced lifestyle magazine for women in their 20s. More than a dozen staffers, some reporting to work for the first time today, were told they wouldn't be needed in an impromptu meeting held about an hour ago. Bauer cited "uncertain conditions in the single copy marketplace." An insider tells Radar Bauer couldn't find distributors for the femmed-up hybrid of Us Weekly and Glamour.
