SECURING HIS PIECE Brant, Seymour
Earlier this week, the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled in favor of Peter Brant, chairman of Brant Publications and husband of SI swimsuit-issue staple Stephanie Seymour, in a protracted battle for ownership of The King.
In 2000, Brant purchased Andy Warhol's Red Elvis, a six-foot tall, $12 million piece, which features 36 silk-screened images of the rock legend's pompadoured head, from Swedish art dealer Anders Malmberg. But the Elvis's former owner, Swedish heiress Kerstin Lindholm, filed a civil suit against Brant in 2003, claiming she never authorized the sale and Brant's purchase of the work was tantamount to an art heist. "It was a very painful experience to go through," Brant tells Radar of the four-year legal battle.
