Mood Gay As New York Extends Benefits

NOW GAY FRIENDLIER New York
Good news from our friends at New York. We're hearing that, as of May 1, employees of the family-owned city mag will be able to extend their benefits to domestic partners.

We reported in January that New York, which lavishes attention on the city's gay community and its concerns, was one of the few magazine publications not to offer partner benefits. At the time, a spokeswoman blamed the failure on "complexity of the laws governing corporate benefits and the difficulty of complying with changing domestic partnership regulations."

We don't know of any changes to the applicable laws or regulations since then, but we're happy to see they were able to work it out.
