< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Fake Socialite Letter Generating Real Buzz
In a 10-point follow up to what 'Rank has dramatically dubbed "The Scarlet Letter," its anonymous author comments on Palermo's claim, saying he or she is "not buying it for a single second." Point number eight goes even further: "According to our previous e-mail interactions with Miss Palemo which begun back in November the nature of the writing style is very much resembles her tone and sentence structure [sic everything]." Enter NewYorkSocialDiary, a website that picks up on the controversy, presumably from Radar, and sides with Palermo: "...late yesterday afternoon Olivia Palermo let it be known that she had nothing to do with that e-mail, had never written it, or even thought to. It didn't sound like her, that's for sure." Even Page Six weighed in, referencing Palermo's alleged e-mail—apparently, the Six-ers couldn't reach Palermo before going to press (and mistakenly credited socialrank.com, not socialiterank.com). Team Olivia seems to be winning, as posters on SocialiteRank pile up in her corner. One example: "I think SR's repeated criticism of OP signals that the website has officially jumped the shark.... Please, SR editor(s), don't keep this dribble up just to increase your page views or you're going to lose a lot of readers in the end." For her part, Palermo told Radar she plans legal action if she can identify who sent the false e-mail. Photo: Jessica Craig Martin Advertisement |
