With a hit movie and long-awaited Oscars under his arms, Martin Scorsese has had a pretty good year. His townhouse on East 62nd Street in Manhattan, however, continues to show poorly.

First came the IRS, which placed several liens on the place for unpaid taxes. Scorsese settled up, but he still hasn't managed to unload the pad a full year since he put it on the market—even after dropping the asking price to $6.7 million. (He's reportedly ditching the digs to move closer to his youngest daughter's school.)

Over the years, Scorsese's put considerable work into the place, installing a wee elevator that shuttles the asthmatic film legend between the house's four stories. The main entrance is on the ground floor, where a kitchen and dining room open to a large and leafy brick-walled courtyard. The second floor has been opened up front-to-back, creating two large, surprisingly florid sitting areas crammed with old-world paintings and vintage movie posters.

The third floor master suite has a large bedroom, study, and, according to the listing materials, a "gentleman's dressing room." (Tough luck, Helen.) The crowning touch: A state-of-the-art screening room on the fourth floor where Bobby DeNiro and Harvey Keitel once watched themselves in style.
