MONEY TO BURN A fireplace large enough to burn a cross
Madonna and her house-husband, Guy Ritchie, are reportedly on the hunt for a "big and grand" stateside crib—a townhouse that would allow them to skirt co-op boards like the one at the San Remo that famously rejected her Madgesty back in 1985. In other words, the gap-toothed girl from Michigan still has something to prove in Manhattan.
Her favorite property so far? A $35-million Beaux-Arts pile fit for a filthy rich Kabbalah queen and her growing multi-ethnic brood. Built in 1902, the 15,000-square-foot, six-floor monster boasts an entrance sheathed in more marble than a mausoleum, a limestone fireplace large enough to stand in, and a swimming pool in the basement.
Lest anyone doubt the London-based Material Mom has that kind of sterling, we also hear she's looking to unload her home off Mulholland Drive in L.A. to Posh and Becks.
