Mogul A-Go-Go
WWE's Bogus Battle of the Billionaires

It doesn't take a genius to realize that professional wrestling—that choreographed dance between be-tighted lunks—is more akin to ballet than it is to a bar brawl. But WWE's "Battle of the Billionaires" between Donald Trump and Vince McMahon further proves the bogus nature of the so-called sport. Trump is the only billionaire involved.

In a publicity stunt rivaled in tackiness only by his marriage to Marla Maples, the Donald recently appeared on WWE and challenged singlet-slinging CEO McMahon to a "hair match." On April 1 (go figure), Trump and McMahon's proxy wrestlers will do battle, with the losing mogul set to receive a buzz from the winner.

But McMahon's credit at the Billionaire's Bar was canceled after he sank $400 million in a little debacle called the XFL. The "marketing genius" believed that his ability to squeeze dollars out of fake wrestling could be applied to fake football and, of course, nearly nude strippers cheerleaders. It took nine months and a drop in his net worth of 36 percent for McMahon to realize that, yes, football is an actual sport. Today, on the Forbes 2007 list of billionaires, McMahon's name is conspicuously absent.
