• No resolutions here: Britney Spears ushered in the new year by chugging pineapple-and-rum cocktails, passing out (or falling asleep) in a night club, and being carried out by bodyguards (or not being carried out by bodyguards).
• Mrs. Doh!-erty: The on-again, off-again relationship of Kate Moss and Pete Doherty is on again, until overdose do them part.
• The Mormon candidate: Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney will form a presidential exploratory committee this week. He might not be the most politically experienced candidate, but he definitely has the most door-knocking knowledge.
• Poor them: Chief Justice John Roberts issued a year-end report that says federal judges' pay is so low it is a "constitutional crisis." Judges make between $165,000 and $212,000 a year.
• Lost love: Steve Martin eulogizes the late Saddam Hussein with some stirring words of tribute.
