Lohan In Wonderland

Lindsay Lohan's decision to check into rehab for alcohol treatment isn't exactly surprising. Nor is her choice in facilities—L.A.'s Wonderland Center. The New York Post this morning describes a few of the accoutrements in the 12-bed center, which include pools, chefs, yoga programs, and hiking trails situated on three rustic acres in rocker- friendly Laurel Canyon ("close to the major business centers, film and recording studios," according to the center's website). Far from the sleepaway camp it might initially seem to be, the center brands itself as the ideal retreat for tabloid princesses and wayward actors.
For countless years, it has been accepted that the performing arts go hand-in-hand with a bleak history of alcoholism and addiction. How many successful artists have been cut down in their prime by these chronic and fatal diseases? How many more have had their careers shortened and their reputations stained on account of a tabloid explosion in relation to alcoholism and addiction?

Lindsay's also got her bases covered if she decides she has issues with more than the sauce: Wonderland offers treatment for cocaine, marijuana, pills, prescription drugs, eating disorders, and even compulsive shopping. And if her recent dalliance with Joe Francis and past firecrotchy run-ins with various oily dudes are any indication, she might want to consider auditing a session or two in Wonderland's sex and love addiction programs.

Calls to the center to inquire about pricing and availability resulted, unsurprisingly, in hang-ups.
