Times are tough for aging supermodels, and there's just no more room for snobbery. How else to explain the unfortunate mèsalliance of legendary supermodel Cindy Crawford and a new "I ♥ Turkish Leather" ad campaign in today's WWD? The heartbreaking spread, paid for by the Istanbul-based Turkish Leather Council (TLC) announces a Turkish shoe and leather expo to be held in Grand Hyatt hotel in New York next week. The country's leather industry is looking to improve their not-so-haute, vaguely Borat-ish image with the 20th century fashion icon. And now, thanks to the new ads, the 20th century fashion icon is trying to do the same.
