RESPECTS FASHION Reagan

Now that every imaginable angle on the Gerald Ford funeral has been bled dry by the networks, Radar turns its attention to an often overlooked but key element in one of the nation's most important civil displays—funeral fashion. You saw the dignitaries. But did you check out what they were wearing? Our fashion correspondent did....

No one can kiss a casket like Nancy Reagan. America's most chic First Lady and a pro at burial ceremonies, she stole the spotlight at Gerald Ford's funeral on Monday, decked out in the front row with big sunglasses and an oh-so-taboo-dark-brown ensemble during the service in the cathedral. Shades of Wintour, if you will.

THE WIDOW Ford
Celebrated First Lady Betty Ford stayed classy by keeping the funeral as unassuming and understated as possible, while Barbara Bush (or was it Boris Yeltsin?) remained stoic, as if chipped off Mount Rushmore for the occasion. She seemed pleased with her son Georgie who remembered his church manners beautifully (except for one or two unfortunate out-of-place smirks during the eulogy).

FIRST COUPLE The Bushes
George W.'s wife, Laura "Pickles" Bush, behaved joyfully, seeming medicated (as usual) and failing to notice the yearning stares that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice kept shooting at the POTUS.

ONCE AND FUTURE PRESIDENT? The Clintons
Hillary Clinton appeared appropriately reflective and even laughed reminiscently a few times during the eulogy—an optimistic gesture in celebration of the former Commander in Chief's life.
