NOT CHEAP Jenna Bush
For a book by a person who doesn't seem to read them, Jenna Bush's photo-memoir is generating an impressive degree of interest. The First Daughter took a meeting with HarperCollins president Jane Friedman last week to pitch the project, reportedly an account for the teen and tween market of her experiences working with underprivileged children in Central and South America. (Its working title: Inclusion.)
Bush and her agent, Robert Barnett, have been shopping the proposal to a number of publishers. According to a well-placed industry source, Simon & Schuster showed interest but backed off when the asking price surpassed $300,000. HarperCollins is said to still be in the running.
