ADIEU Buchwald
• Life of Art: Humorist, author, Paris correspondent, Pulitzer Prize winner, thorn in Eddie Murphy's side, and all-around nice guy Art Buchwald passes away at 81.
• Cut to the bone: As expected, Time Inc. has let go 289 employees, including editorial staffers from People, Sports Illustrated, and other popular magazines. "Everyone is pretty bummed out, as you can imagine," a staffer told Ad Age's Nat Ives.
• New school: Amish residents of Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania, are building a new school near the site where Charles Roberts shot several school girls before killing himself in October 2006.
• How about 19 life sentences?: Tyrone Williams, a truck driver responsible for the deaths of 19 illegal immigrants he left to bake in a trailer in the desert, has been sentenced to life in prison for his crimes. There is no possibility for parole.
