SIGNING OFF Franken
Air America is saying goodbye to Al Franken and hello to a new owner. The liberal talk radio network today announced a tentative agreement to be acquired by real estate mogul Stephen Green, brother of former New York mayoral candidate Mark Green. With Air America currently in bankruptcy proceedings, the deal will need court approval to move forward.
The news coincides with the long-speculated-upon departure of Franken, one of the network's anchor personalities and host of the noon-to-3 p.m. timeslot. Franken, who has talked about a possible run for U.S. Senate in Minnesota, told Radar in September that he wasn't getting his paychecks. His last day will be Feb. 14. Thom Hartmann, a Portland, Ore.-based radio host, will take over his slot.
