The Price of Love, American Apparel Style

HARD WORKER Charney
Today's New York Times article on the $382.5 million sale of American Apparel to Endeavor Acquisitions Corporation surely contains two of the strangest paragraphs in a business section story in some time:
[Female employees] claimed in the lawsuits, for example, that [founder Dov] Charney conducted job interviews in his underwear and gave a vibrator to at least one female worker. Mr. Charney has denied the charges, and judges have dismissed some of the lawsuits against him.
In the interview, Mr. Charney said that the media had "exploited American Apparel on certain issues," adding, "I would never do an interview in my underwear."
Charney, the creepily hirsute, retro-style CEO-cum-walking lifestyle brand extension may not have conducted interviews in his tighty whities, but he sure did engage in what ABCNews discreetly called consensual "sexual activity" during an interview with Jane magazine in July 2004.
