< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Nick Denton's Employee of the Month![]() WORKING STIFF Denton Via IM, Denton claims he's in no hurry to find a replacement, despite at times struggling to meet his own company wide "12 posts per day" dictum: "I'm actually rather enjoying myself," he says. Douglas, who's since found work at the Huffington Post's Eat the Press blog, is still pitching in an item a day, and Paul Boutin, formerly of Slate and Wired, is also contributing. Since taking over the reins, Denton, who worked the tech beat for the Financial Times in another life, has tried to tighten the blog's focus on the industry's biggest names and companies. (He reportedly felt Douglas was spending too much time writing about nobodies.) The result, he claims, is a near doubling of traffic from October to November. Which raises the question: Is Denton—who was recently described as "brilliant with a quicksilver mind" in the Guardian, and "evil" in the San Francisco Chronicle—eligible for the traffic bonuses he offers his own minions? "I don't take a salary, but a pageview bonus might be gratifying." Advertisement |
