Earlier this year, Radar took a trip around the world to investigate the rise of local Paris Hiltons supposedly cropping up from India to Russia, spreading sex tapes, dubious publicity stunts, and tiny little dogs across the globe. It was all fun and games, until Paris's name was used to smear someone in a country less tolerant of the Western-style freedom Hilton embodies for better or much, much worse.

Iranian actress Zahra Amir Ebrahimi has been fired from her job on a soap opera and may face a prison sentence for the contents of a 5-year-old private sex tape allegedly leaked by her ex-boyfriend. The Daily Mail is reporting that Ebrahimi has had to quell rumors that she killed herself to avoid the shame associated with sex outside of marriage, by releasing the following statement: "I just want to tell my country's people I am alive. I am thinking about the strength of Iranian women and will defend the respect of the girls and women of my nation."

Which brings us to the major difference between Hilton and Ebrahimi: The former couldn't have said such a direct and clear-headed thing without calling in Elliot "Chardy" Mintz to say it for her.
