< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence Mohammed, Mo' Problems, and Moss![]() KILLER OF NATIONS Kate • Danes outdone: A Moroccan has won the International Holocaust Cartoons Contest, set up in retaliation for the last year's riot-inducing Mohammed drawings. Reuters describes the image as "a crane with a Star of David sign, putting up blocks making a wall separating the Muslim shrine, the Dome of the Rock, from Jerusalem." Sounds at least as funny as a New Yorker doodle. • Sick of sic-'em ads: Colorado's state Republican Party has come under fire after putting out a direct-mailing attack ad "designed to look like a sex-offender notification." This is wrong on many levels, especially because the Democratic nominee is not Mark Foley. • The story of us: Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick will produce a show for CBS the Hollywood Reporter describes as "a buddy comedy about a quartet of characters—a gay writer and a straight writer, who are best friends, and their hot young assistants." The hot assistants are a nice touch: thanks, development executives. Tidewater mourning: Pulitzer prize-winning writer William Styron died on Martha's Vineyard. His daughter told reporters the cause of death was pneumonia. Styron wrote The Confessions of Nat Turner, Sophie's Choice, and A Tidewater Morning. He was 81. Advertisement |
