We are honored to learn that the president of Bridgeport University, Albert Salonen, is a Radar reader—or at least suspects a lot of his students are. Salonen recently sent out a message to everyone on the school's e-mail system that was apparently meant as a response to Bridgeport's inclusion in our "Bad Education" feature, where it had the distinction of being named the "Worst College in America."

"The advantage of vast access to information offered through the internet comes with the challenge of evaluating that information, since it is not subject to any scrutiny for accuracy, balance, or fairness," Salonen wrote, in a coda appended to a "University Update."

"From time to time, 'blood pressure raising items' will circulate on-line, such as one web-site [sic] pointed out to me recently that was particularly unkind. When such comments about UB lack substance or seem intended only to be hurtful, they betray a lack of commitment to the principles of accuracy, fairness and respect for all that we at UB insist upon. With so much to be proud of and so many more hopeful developments on the horizon, I am convinced that concentrating our energies on the growth and development of the University will be the most successful response in the long term."
