MYSTERY MISHAP Lidle crash

Lidle redux: Investigators are still trying to figure out whether Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle and friend (now identified as flight instructor Tyler Stanger) had mechanical failure or just tried to make too tight of a turn before crashing into the Belaire in Manhattan's Upper East Side. Meanwhile, Gov. George Pataki evokes 9/11 memories and proposes FAA restrictions to keep small planes from flying over the Hudson, but NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an avid private pilot, disagrees and leaves the skies open.

Related: If Lidle was flying the plane, his widow might not get $1.5 million in insurance benefits.
