BUSY MAN Kubrick
Stanley Kubrick passed away in 1999, but he's having a pretty good couple of months. In today's New York Times, Charles McGrath reports that an unproduced collaboration between the late director and novelist Jim Thompson called Lunatic at Large has been unearthed by Kubrick's son-in-law, Philip Hobbs. "My husband always had a drawerful of ideas," says the director's widow, Christiane Kubrick. "There were always a lot of stories on the go, things he started, things he left lying around. It was like being in a waterfall. I remember he was very excited at the time about Lunatic at Large, but then other things happened." Lunatic may finally happen now with the help of director Chris Palmer and writer Stephen R. Clarke.
