No Time4 Celebration

Morale at Time Inc. dropped to levels undetectable by science this morning as most of the staffers at the Time4 Media and the Parenting Group divisions opened their web browsers to learn that the magazines they work for are being put on the block. According to the report in Advertising Age, of the company's titles, only Golf Magazine and This Old House will be kept. Field & Stream, Popular Science, Parenting, and numerous other niche titles will be sold to whoever will have them. Time4 and Parenting Group employees received no advance warning and got official notice of sale plans after the story had broken. "'Blindsided' is a good word for it," said one staffer. On the bright side, he still has a job for now—unlike everyone who worked for Teen People and Office Pirates, or the other 400-plus folks Time has laid off in the past year.
