< BACK TO Fresh Intelligence New Page Six Writer's Unhappy Hour![]() PARTY'S OVER Steindler Corynne Steindler, who is leaving jossip.com to join the New York Post next month, sent out an invitation to her going away party earlier this afternoon. "Obviously, I can't go out without a party, and Thom Bar was gracious enough to offer up a swanky little soiree," she wrote, referring to the bar at the Thompson Hotel, a venue frequently featured in Page Six. But within two hours, Steindler was forced to call the party off—after calls from Radar alerted top Post officials to her plans. "She will not be having a party paid for by an outside entity," said a Post spokesman. "Any parties she has, she will be paying for." [Invite after the jump] Of course, a few passed appetizers and an open bar in exchange for a favorable mention on the page would've been no big deal a few months ago. But the Post has been enforcing a tighter ethics code since April, when the sins of alleged extortionist Jared Paul Stern brought unwanted attention to the rampant freebie-mongering of certain contributors. "You can't do that at Page Six anymore," said a Post insider. "Col [Allan, the Post's editor in chief] is very sensitive about that kind of shit." Even though Steindler hasn't even started at the Post yet, says the insider, it's obvious her new status was the source of the hotel's generosity. "Do you think Thom Bar would give a shit about some blogger? The irony is that's exactly the kind of thing Jossip would've delighted in exposing." ![]()
