Modern Family was the big winner at Sunday's 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards at Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre, as the hit ABC series swept the five categories it was nominated in: best comedy, best supporting actor (Ty Burrell), best supporting actress (Julie Bowen), best writing and direction.

The night definitely had its share of surprises -- Melissa McCarthy captured best actress in a comedy for Mike & Molly while Kyle Chandler won best actor in a drama for Friday Night Lights.

After her second straight nomination, Julianna Margulies finally won Best Actress in a drama for her critically acclaimed starring role in The Good Wife; Kate Winslet won best actress in a miniseries or movie for Mildred Pierce; Martin Scorsese took home best direction in a drama for Boardwalk Empire; and Mad Men captured the award for best drama series.

Twilight was the big winner at Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles, taking home 5 popcorn trophies, including Best Film.

Robert Pattinson was the star of the evening, dropping the F-bomb, locking lips with co-star Taylor Lautner and collecting awards for Best Kiss, Best Fight and Best Male Performance for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Host Jason Sudeikis, not surprisingly, made Arnold Schwarzenegger the source of many jokes throughout the night, including one zinger: "Watch out for his next film, Pumping the Iron-er."

The Academy didn't stutter as The King's Speech wrapped up its' triumphant award season at Sunday's 83rd annual Academy Awards at Hollywood's Kodak Theater, as the film hit a grand slam with four high-profile Oscars wins, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Colin Firth) and Best Original Screenplay.

The Academy didn't stutter as The King's Speech wrapped up its' triumphant award season at Sunday's 83rd annual Academy Awards at Hollywood's Kodak Theater, as the film hit a grand slam with four high-profile Oscars wins, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Colin Firth) and Best Original Screenplay.

Among the other big winners included Natalie Portman (Best Actress for The Black Swan), Christian Slater (Best Supporting Actor for The Fighter), and Melissa Leo ( Best Supporting Actress for The Fighter).

Anne Hathaway and James Franco were the youngest hosts ever in the show's history in the hope that they would bring a new energy and a more youthful demographic to the Entertainment Industry's biggest night.

Hathaway and Franco kicked off the night with a montage of the nominated Best Movies before introducing Anne's mom and Franco's grandma to the audience.

Tom Hanks was the first presenter, for Achievement in Art Direction.

Winner: Alice In Wonderland

Hanks stayed around to present the Oscar for Achievement In Cinematography.

Winner: Inception

 

Veteran actor Kirk Douglas flirted heavily with a blushing Anne Hathaway before going on to announce the Best Supporting Actress.

Winner: Melissa Leo - The Fighter

 

Next up, two nominees, Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake, to present the award for Best Animated Short Film.

Winner: The Lost Thing

 

Kunis and Timberlake stuck around to also present the award for Best Animated Feature.

Winner: Toy Story 3

 

Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem, both also nominees, looked dapper in matching white tuxedos. They presented the award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Winner: Aaron Sorkin - The Social Network

 

Brolin and Bardem also presented the award for Best Original Screenplay.

Winner: David Seidler - The King's Speech

 

Arthur co-stars Russell Brand and Helen Mirren took to the stage to present Best Foreign Language Film.

Winner: In A Better World (Denmark)

 

Reese Witherspoon looked ravishing in a simple yet gorgeous black and white gown. The actress presented the award for Best Supporting Actor.

Winner: Christian Bale - The Fighter

 

Fellow Aussies Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman presented the award for Best Original Score.

Winner: The Social Network

 

Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey presented the award for Best Sound Mixing.

Winner: Inception

Oscar winner Kate Blanchett was her usual stunning self in a pale pink Givenchy dress, she presented the award for Achievement In Make-Up.

Winner: The Wolfman

Blanchett also presented the award for Outstanding Costume Design.

Winner: Alice In Wonderland

 

Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal presented the award for the "category that's most difficult to predict on your home Oscars ballot" - Best Documentary Short.

Winner: Strangers No More

 

The pair stayed around to present the award for Live Action Short Film.

Winner: God Of Love

 

Past Oscars host Billy Crystal (he presented it eight times) received a standing ovation before relating a funny story about veteran Oscars host Bob Hope and giving way to a clip of Hope telling jokes at a past ceremony - the funniest of the night!

Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law then presented the award for Achievement In Visual Effects.

Winner: Inception

 

Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson looked simply stunning in a tangerine colored Versace dress as she presented the award for Best Original Song.

Winner: We Belong Together by Randy Newman - Toy Story 3

 

Two time Academy Award winner Hilary Swank welcomed last year's winning director Catherine Bigelow on stage to present the award for this year's Best Director.

Winner: Tom Hooper - The King's Speech

 

Last year's Best Actor winner, and a nominee in the same category this year, Jeff Bridges presented the award for Best Actress.

Winner: Natalie Portman - Black Swan

 

Last year's Best Actress winner Sandra Bullock presented the award for Best Actor.

Winner: Colin Firth - The King's Speech

 

Rounding out the show, Hollywood's grand daddy of directing Steven Spielberg presented the coveted Best Motion Picture award.

Competition was tight, drawing this year from ten nominees...but the leading favorite won out.
