Man Fakes Mom's Obit For Time Off Of Work

A 45-year-old Brookville, Pennsylvania man wanting paid bereavement time from his factory job submit a phony obituary for his own mother to the local paper to back up his flimflam story, police in northwestern Pennsylvania said.

Police Chief Ken Dworek said Scott Bennett, 45, was fired from his job at a factory, and charged with disorderly conduct, after he submit the fake death notice for his mother to The Jeffersonian Democrat.

The ruse was unraveled when a number of Bennett's relatives reported the death as false -- then the man's mother visited the office.

The owner of a wild-animal preserve -- that housed as many as 48 wild and exotic animals -- opened the pens and cages of his menagerie before killing himself, authorities in Zanesville, Ohio said during a news conference Wednesday morning.

The property owner, Terry Thompson, opened the cages and gates of the animals -- including bears, cheetahs, wolves, lions, camels, giraffes and a white Siberian tiger -- prior to giving himself a fatal, self-inflicted wound, police said, adding they were waiting on autopsy results.

Three animals are unaccounted for -- a lion, a bear and a monkey -- police said in a preliminary estimate. Authorities shot and killed about 30 of the animals Tuesday, and were under orders to shoot to kill during overnight efforts to round up the animals.

In Zanesville, Ohio, police said as many as 18 of an estimated 48 wild animals that escaped from a wild-animal preserve, whose owner was found dead, are still wandering the area.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said locals should stay inside their homes until the situation was resolved. Road signs told motorists to remain in their cars and three school districts cancelled classes in connection with the incident.

Tim Adams didn't exercise his right to remain silent.

The 54-year-old man -- suspected of indecent exposure when he was caught having sex with a 71-year-old woman in a Buick parked in a suburban Detroit shopping center -- told police, “I'm f***ing this chick," when asked what he was doing.

Both Adams, and his lady friend, Rita Daniels, were arrested in connection with indecent exposure and disorderly intoxication, police said.
