Thursday's edition of Jersey Shore moved along some of the season's key storylines, as The Situation continues to plot with his pal The Unit to reveal Snooki's unfaithfulness to her boyfriend, Jionni. 

Mike --  still upset that the gang just doesn't care for him all too much -- seems to play his cards close to the vest with Snooki, even slamming back a few drinks with her and Deena for subterfuge.

Someone get this guy a pair of briefs -- STAT!

The Situation showed off more than his famed abs on Thursday's edition of Jersey Shore, as his genitals inadvertently slipped out of his pants while he confronted his castmates over the collective cold shoulder they've been giving him.

Drama ran high on Jersey Shore Thursday, as the cast slowly came to terms with the beloved Vinny Guadagnino abruptly leaving last week, while dual birthdays for Pauly D and The Situation showed the man with the famous abs he's not likely to win any popularity contests among his housemates. 

First, the Vinny drama: Everyone was upset in the wake of the house's resident nice guy leaving Seaside Heights last week, citing loneliness and anxiety issues. Deena cried and professed her love for him, Snooki ruminated there was no one left to flirt with and Pauly D paid tribute to his close pal with a roll in the hay in Vinny's former bed.

Vinny told his family in Staten Island he left because his anxiety issues were inflaming, and the cast house "wasn’t the right environment for him to deal with it in -- it was too much.”

The fifth season of Jersey Shore started off with a bang Thursday, as the lingering tension between Snooki and The Situation -- over a hook-up he swears to and she denies -- explodes in a confrontation between the pint-sized starlet and his brash new sidekick, "The Unit."

The episode unfolds as the cast returns from Florence, Italy, only to -- What else?!? -- celebrate their homecoming at a Seaside Heights bar. Everyone is there: friends and family, including Snooki's serious boyfriend Jionni LaValle, who's still clueless to the whispers that his gal pal hooked up with The Sitch. (He actually buys him drinks all night.)

A brazen bodybuilder, The Unit's comparable to The Situation, minus the good manners: When Jionni takes a bathroom break, he immediately lays into Snooki about how he witnessed she and The Situation hooking up -- and won’t hesitate to tell him.

With the fifth season of Jersey Shore kicking off Thursday, the show's stars dotted the late night constellation Tuesday, teasing with tidbits about the upcoming episodes, an incoming cast member, possible spin-offs and the departure of a Seaside Heights mainstay.

Snooki, appearing on The Tonight Show, confirmed that Vinny Guadagnino, the cast's most down-to-earth personality, will leave at some point this season.

She said the hustle and bustle of fast-paced reality TV life catches up to him -- as it does to her, at times.

"Honestly, we all get homesick sometimes: The cameras are too much for us. It's like, 'Oh my God, go away!'" she said, admitting she's thought of packing her bags more than once.

He's the most mild-manned member of the revelrous Jersey Shore cast; she's the once-mild-mannered teen queen whose occasional revelry makes headlines.

And they're Twitter pals.

Yes, Hanna Montana met the Jersey Shore on Twitter early Friday, as unlikely pals Miley Cyrus and Vinny Guadagnino carried on a heavily re-tweeted dialogue about air safety after Miley voiced her concerns about boarding a plane.

Miley, 19, wrote, "Why do I have an anxiety attack everytime I step on an airplane. I [just] gotta remember what @tishcyrus says... Angels are under the wings."

Unlike his boastful Jersey Shore sidekicks Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and DJ Pauly D, Vinny Guadagnino knows a gentleman never talks, and is keeping decidedly mum on the subject of his love life.

“The loudest person in the room is usually the weakest person in the room,” Vinny told Star magazine in an exclusive interview. “I don’t kiss and tell.”

Still, the tight-lipped fist pumper candidly reveals he did in fact have a tryst with the infamous Snooki, but sadly, theirs was a brief courtship.

The cast of Jersey Shore was among the many stars at Sunday’s MTV Video Music award, but one member of the gang was noticeably absent -- Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. The reason? He says Hurricane Irene.

MTV flew the cast by private jet to Los Angeles early Saturday to make sure they’d be at the show. Vinny Guadagnino told MTV news: “MTV did whatever they could to get us out of here. We wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

For some reason, Mike didn’t take the flight, but he did send a tweet apologizing for missing the show. The Sitch tweeted: “I wish I could be at the VMA’s but all the flights were grounded because of the hurricane….thanks again for always having my back! For all the Haters who are mad by what really happened, keep hating!”

Vinny Guadagnino is mad at Snooki and slammed his co-star and possibly even her boyfriend when she skipped out on a dinner with contest winners Sunday night, but is there a little jealousy, maybe?

“SundayDinner today with the fam @Sn00ki @DeenaNicoleMTV @RealUncleNino @laurzins and two random girls who won a contest. Poor girls,” Vinny Tweeted Sunday, only to post an update shortly thereafter.

“Nvm about @sn00ki coming to #SundayDinner . She bailed last minute. I guess the chain isn't long enough to reach Staten Island.”
