Mimms' meltdown was taped right before Star's exclusive audio of a violent father-son exchange that helped Chapman get temporary custody of his grandson "Little" Travis, whose mother Barbara-Katie died in a 2006 car accident.

In the wake of Star's exclusive audio that helped gain Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman temporary custody of his grandson "Little" Travis, the TV star opens up to Thursday's edition of Entertainment Tonight about the child abuse accusations he’s lobbed against the boy’s father, “Big” Travis Mimms.

Travis, 9, is the son of the TV star’s late daughter Barbara-Katie, who died in a car accident five years ago. Chapman, on Thursday, recalls the moments he heard the disturbing audio -- and how he was engulfed by anger soon thereafter.

"I was in L.A. at Gene Simmons' wedding and I got the tape emailed to me," Chapman tells ET's Chris Jacobs. "It was overwhelming to me and I got mad -- I instantly thought, 'I can't wait to get my hands around [Mimms'] throat,’ but then I am trained enough to know not to do that."

Duane Chapman, more popularly known as Dog The Bounty Hunter, is "shocked and heartbroken" over the alleged abuse his nine-year-old grandson, Travis Jr. suffered at the hands of his father, Travis Mimms Sr.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Chapman won custody of Travis Jr. after a shocking audiotape surfaced allegedly documenting a severe beating of the child by his own father.

The A & E reality star released a statement Monday detailing his feelings over the shocking incident, and begging Travis Sr. to seek help for his anger issues.

A disturbing audio recording that appears to capture a horrific beating of a child is at the center of a court battle that has caused a judge to grant temporary custody to Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman of his grandson, Star magazine is reporting exclusively.

On October 21, Chapman obtained temporary custody of Travis Mimms, 9, the son of his late daughter Barbara-Katie Chapman. The boy lives with his father, Travis Senior.

Star magazine has exclusively obtained an audio recording that is at the center of the situation and on the highly disturbing recording, which was submitted to the court, the nine-year-old appears to be receiving a severe beating -- allegedly from his father. Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman has been hit with a restraining order by the father of his grandson, Star magazine is reporting exclusively via RadarOnline.com.

Travis Mimms had a son with Duane’s daughter Barbara-Katie Chapman, who died in a car accident in 2006 at the age of 23. Mimms and his roommate plus a girlfriend, were granted a temporary restraining order against Dog, his wife Beth and his daughter Lyssa on October 19.

A hearing has been set for October 28.

“There is a lot going on,” Mimms told Star magazine on Friday, confirming that he obtained the TRO but refusing to elaborate. “I can’t talk about it at the moment.”
