The medical examiners office in New York City says that Ted Koppel’s son died from a deadly combination of alcohol and drugs, RadarOnline.com has learned.

RadarOnline.com has confirmed the death of Andrew Koppel has been ruled as “accidental.”

The 40-year-old died May 31 from “acute intoxication due to combined effects of ethanol (liquor), heroin, cocaine, diazepam (Valium) and levamisole.”

Andrew had been out drinking with a man at Smith's Bar and Restaurant in Hell's Kitchen the day before. It’s believed that was dead for four hours in a seedy apartment before he was found.

Andrew was the third youngest of the former Nightline host and his wife, Grace Anne. He was their only son.

At the time, he was a student at Georgetown Law School.
