Bret Michaels' Sister Says He Is "Not Out Of The Woods Probably For Six Months"

Michelle Sychak, Bret Michaels’ sister, called into the syndicated morning radio talk show, the Todd N Tyler Radio Empire, Wednesday morning to talk about Bret getting out of the hospital but not being out of the woods just yet, and Radaronline.com has the details.
Bret Michaels’ Started Walking Again
Michelle says: "Good news! It was shocking because I really didn't see that happening. He's doing really well. I mean, he sounded great. I could tell, you know I think that Barrows Institute is great, but when you think (and this is kinda what I was saying on CNN) about what was around him, he was doing so much better than most of the people that are in there. Imagine if you will you're in a ward where you've survived this brain injury and you're feeling pretty good and you're yourself and you can walk and talk and you can do all those things. and then everyone around you or most of the people around you are either in a coma or maybe a vegetative state or they're just nowhere near the level, you know what I mean? And just, I think it was very difficult for him to see that every day, and he said it just was so depressing and he really pushed to be transferred to you know someplace with I think people that were in the same level of mindset as he is...."
As RadarOnline.com has previously reported, Michaels was rushed to the hospital last week after suffering a brain hemorrhage which left him with slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness as a result of the bleeding at the base of his brain stem.
Bret Michaels In Critical Condition
Michelle goes on to share the good news that Bret is no longer in the hospital, and is currently in another rehab facility...
"...To try to sort of get himself back to normal. And I think the next step is home, and I don't think that will be too long down the road. I think he'll do better in a little bit more upbeat, I guess is the word I would use...I talked to my Mom and Dad, and we're all planning our trip out."

Poison lead singer Bret Michaels remains in the hospital Monday after his tragic brain hemorrhage, but his sister Michelle had a positive update about him and said he is “definitely doing better and he was starting to walk a little bit.”
Calling into The Todd N Tyler Radio Empire show on Monday morning, Michelle said she last spoke to Bret on Saturday and gave the update about her brother.

“He’s up and moving but it is not going to surprise me if he is still in the ICU on Friday. I think they’re having a problem really getting the bleed…I think there are some issues…that’s why the back pain.”
As RadarOnline.com has previously reported, Michaels was rushed to the hospital last week after suffering a brain hemorrhage which left him with slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness as a result of the bleeding at the base of his brain stem.

His speech is not slurred anymore , but he is dealing with a painful recovery, his sister said. “What’s happened is all that blood in his brain is starting to drain and he’s starting to have a lot of back pain. It’s been I can hear it in his voice, I know he’s in a lot of pain.”
Bret is ready to leave the hospital Michelle said. “I just want to get out of here,” is what Michelle said Bret told her. “He’s so happy that everybody is pulling for him,” she said about her brother.

St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona will be holding a news conference with Bret Michael’s medical team headed by neurological surgeon Dr. Joseph M. Zabramski at noon on Tuesday to update Bret’s condition, treatment and prognosis.
He is now in critical but stable condition & under 24 hour doctor supervision, according to a source close to him.

“The fact that he got medical treatment right away, he went immediately and because there is one of the best neurological centers in America there he was very fortunate and I think he will recover quickly and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him back there sooner than most,” Michelle said.
In a statement to RadarOnline.com Dr. Zabramski spoke about the 47-year old Celebrity Apprentice star, and said “Bret’s sheer will to live and fully recover is undeniable.”

"One thing we've learned through all of this is that we have a lot of friends,” Michelle said. “I can't say a ton, but things are definitely looking up.
“He's still in ICU, still in critical but stable condition. I did have a chance to speak to him and he sounded like Bret. He sounds good.
“The truth is I think he'll outlive us all. He seems to be really very lucky. The fact that he survived the initial rupture is a miracle in itself. He's very fortunate. I've never known anyone to dodge so many
bullets both literally and figuratively.

“I spoke to him briefly and he sounded as good as someone can when their brain is throbbing. He was very coherent and he knew what he was saying.
“I overheard a guy in a bar the other night say, ‘It couldn't have happened to a bigger as***le.’ I let him know he was talking about my brother. Bret and I are very close. We've always had each other's backs and you don't mess with family."
New Developments: Bret Michaels Recovery Could Take Several Weeks To Months
Meantime Bret’s camp also remain optimistic that the former Poison front man will make a full recovery. At 4:01, the following was posted on Bret Michael's Facebook and Twitter Page:
“While Bret is recovering we obviously have some shows that are being rescheduled. We are working to reschedule dates from now until May 21st.
“At this time we are planning to resume the tour May 26th in Ft. Smith, Arkansas provided there are no further complications or setbacks. We will then continue with all scheduled dates throughout the summer and fall, including the June and July tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Look for additional information in the days and weeks to come. For those of you with tickets for shows that are being rescheduled, your tickets will be honored on the new dates. Tickets remain on sale for the shows which are being rescheduled although the new dates have yet to be announced.
